East Texas Emergency Vehicles Help Evacuate Galveston

East Texas emergency workers are helping to evacuate hospital patients in Galveston.

Today, ETMC sent off 10 ambulances and a helicopter. They're going to pick up patients from UTMB-Galveston.

They are not sure where they're taking them, but it may be San Antonio or Austin.

Other East Texas hospitals helping out include Good Shepherd Medical Center and Trinity Mother Frances, through Champion EMS. They plan to move Galveston patients to Tomball or Huntsville.

There are about 1,000 patients total that need to be evacuated from Galveston. Other area hospitals are also helping in the effort.
