LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Crews are on the scene of a wreck after a car struck a speed-limit tracking trailer in Longview.

According to the Longview Police Department, they are responding to an "accident with injuries" near the intersection of Highway 31 and West Loop 281.

Sgt. Shane McCarter with Longview police confirmed the driver of the vehicle struck one of the department's speed trailers, the device that monitors the speeds of passing vehicles on the roadway.

According to a reporter on the scene, both eastbound and westbound traffic on Highway 31 is down to one lane as crews work to clear the wreck.

Longview Police and Longview Fire are on the scene.

The driver is reported to be okay, according to a reporter on the scene. The driver also told the reporter that he had felt really "sleepy" and had fallen asleep at the wheel when he struck the device. A witness reported they saw the car spin across the roadway before coming to rest in a ditch in the median.

Officials on the scene reported the driver was using his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
