Tyler police identify man found dead in woods

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The body of a man found in the woods near a busy Tyler intersection has been identified.

Tyler Police say the name of the man is Gregory Tyrone Jock, 50, of Tyler.

They also say that no foul play is suspected.

Tyler Police Department is on the scene where a person spotted a body in the woods near a busy Tyler intersection.

On Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 1:42 p.m., Tyler police were notified that a citizen had found a dead body in the woods behind the Valero Gas Station located at E. Front Street and SSE Loop 323.

Officers located the body and recovered the person's identification from the body.  The deceased is a W/M, age 50.  His identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

The body is in a state of decomposition and investigators did not observe an evident indication of foul-play.  The body will be sent off for an autopsy in Dallas to determine the possible cause of death.
