From SFA Athletics
The Stephen F. Austin State University athletics department has announced Thursday, July 12, as the date for new Director of Athletics Ryan Ivey's introductory press conference.
Ivey will be formally introduced at 1:30 p.m. in the William B. Lawton Room of the SFA athletics fieldhouse. Following the press conference, which will be streamed live on ESPN3 and the ESPN app, a meet and greet session with Ivey has been scheduled in the Champions Room of the SFA athletics fieldhouse to give campus and community members a chance to welcome Ivey to the area.
Directly before being named the Director of Athletics at SFA, Ivey served in a similar capacity at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., for three years. With Ivey at the helm, the Governors increased their national profile across the NCAA Division I athletics landscape by posting a number of impressive winning seasons and announcing numerous major coaching hires. On the fundraising side, Ivey helped raise $6.5 million in gifts which were funneled into facility improvements and the athletics department budget.
Ivey replaces Robert Hill who retired on May 31, 2018, following a 31-year affiliation with SFA athletics. He takes over an athletics program which has claimed a total of 88 Southland Conference regular season titles, captured three of the last four Southland Conference Commissioner's Cups and won five consecutive Southland Conference women's all-sports trophies.
