JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) - A Fourth of July illegal fireworks call led to a Jacksonville police officer shooting a dog.
According to the Jacksonville Police Department, officers responded to an illegal fireworks call on Heath Lane. A statement from Police Chief Andrew Hawkes says the call led to an "officer-involved shooting of a German Shepherd."
A departmental administrative inquiry has been opened about the incident as is standard procedure, according to police. At this time the incident is still under investigation.
Jacksonville police will host a press conference on Friday morning in order to provide more information about the incident.
