EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - A former Tyler high school football standout turned NFL player was arrested Monday after he allegedly punched an officer, the Pittsburg Post-Gazette reports.
Brandon Pettigrew, 33, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, theft of services and public drunkenness, the newspaper reports.
Pettigrew is an ex-Detroit Lions player and former Robert E. Lee High School tight end. He is now a free agent.
According to the Post-Gazette report, Pettigrew refused to pay a $97 limousine fare and when confronted by officers began arguing with them before allegedly punching an officer in the chest three times.
Pettigrew was drafted by the Lions in 2009.
