SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas family has been selling baked goods for a few years to get back on their feet after a fire destroyed their home. Now they're selling them to help others.
Cinnamon rolls became part of the Thompson family's livelihood three years ago.
KLTV first visited the family back in 2015 when their home was destroyed by a fire.
"We decided that we were going to sell a bunch of different baked goods and we were going to see what we could do [...] to fundraise. We were actually going to rebuild our house," mom and homeowner Sarah Thompson said.
Through donations, help from the community, and a ton of cinnamon roll sales, the family got a new home.
Fast-forward a few years and the family is still selling the homemade goods, but now they're looking to give back to their community.
"We're always doing things for other people," Thompson said.
Such as letting a family stay with them in their time of need or just saying a simple prayer.
"Sometimes people have gotten personal with the things they needed prayer for and sometimes it's just for our nation," Thompson's son Charlie said.
As for their cinnamon roll secret ingredient?
"I think it has to do with the prayer cause we pray over all the cinnamon rolls before they go out," Sarah Thompson said.
Proving that sometimes all we need is a prayer and a little cinnamon.
The family said they have people from across the United States stop by to pray with them and to pick up a delicious cinnamon roll.
