TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A house was reportedly struck by lightning Friday afternoon in Tyler.

About 3 p.m., Smith County Fire Marshal's Office confirmed crews were responding to a report of a house was struck by lightning in the 21000 block of Syrah Lane in Bullard.

Officials at the scene said lightning struck the back of the house and hit the attic. The crawl spaces and the installations were smoldering.

Firefighters cut a hole in the house near where the lightning strike occurred to air out the smoke. An official at the scene said fire crews are worried that if the fire starts back up, it will damage the whole house.

One person was home at the time of the fire, but she's OK.

At this time, the family is getting their valuables out of the house.
