Body of missing East Texas boy found in pond

The body of a missing East Texas boy was located Monday morning in a pond near his Kaufman County home, according to authorities.

Sometime before 5:00 a.m., searchers found the body of six-year-old Dalton Robertson in a small pond in the Terrell area, the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

Robertson, who had a non-verbal form of autism, was reporting missing around 3:00 p.m. Sunday.

Search volunteers from around northeast Texas were assisting in the effort to find Robertson. Teams the air and on the ground received support from several fire departments, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - "We cannot thank our community enough for the outpouring of volunteers, food, water and other services," the sheriff's office posted on Facebook. "We also wish to thank every law enforcement agency and fire department for all of their assistance."

The post also requested privacy for the family.

"Today, we share a sense of sadness but the light of hope shines in Dalton Robertson, a little boy who brought an entire community together."
