ETX man barricades himself, holds woman hostage when police serve warrant

PITTSBURG, TX (KLTV) -

Authorities arrested a man after he barricaded himself and held a woman hostage when officers attempted to serve him an arrest warrant.

According to the Pittsburg Police Department, Jesus Hilario Amaya, 27, barricaded himself and held a women against her will inside a residence when officers attempted to serve a felony arrest warrant for Amaya Monday evening.

The incident began at about 10:19 p.m. when officers went to a residence in the 300 block of Cypress Street to serve a felony arrest warrant that charged Amaya with Aggravated Assault causing Bodily Injury. 

When officers approached the residence, the PPD said, Amaya barricaded himself and held a woman hostage within the residence. 

The Mount Pleasant SWAT team and negotiators were requested due to the hostage being present. The Camp Count Sheriff's Department and the Camp County Constables Office also responded to the scene. 

The incident ended at about 2:07 a.m. when the hostage was released. According to the police, Amaya was taken into custody and booked into the Camp County Jail where he faces additional charges.
