Woman arrested after reportedly fighting Tyler PD officers at Family Dollar

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A woman was arrested after she reportedly fought against police officers trying to detain her at a Family Dollar in Tyler.

Michele Lavonne Goodwin, 47, of Tyler was arrested Sunday and charged with assault of a public servant, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, search or transport and theft of property with a previous conviction

At about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a Family Dollar on the 403 block of South Glenwood Blvd. According to the Tyler Police Department, a woman was causing trouble in the store by knocking down merchandise and opening up and eating merchandise.

When officers approached her in order to detain her, Goodwin reportedly began to fight against them. An officer sustained a laceration when they were pushed to the ground during the incident.

Goodwin was arrested and booked into the Smith County jail. She is under a collective bond of $28,500.
