TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A driver who allegedly struck an officer with a vehicle is in custody.
Tyler Police Department officers arrested Adonai Palacios-Peralta, 23, of Tyler was arrested June. 8. He is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant, evading arrest detention with a vehicle and reckless driving.
Officers initially attempted to apprehend Palacios-Peralta when they observed him doing donuts in a white Mercedes at Woldert Park in Tyler.
According to Public Information Officer Don Martin, when officers with the bicycle unit attempted to approach the vehicle the driver accelerated and fled the scene. An officer was struck by a side mirror on the vehicle.
Officers obtained the driver's license plate and were later able to obtain a warrant for his arrest.
Palacios-Peralta was booked into the Smith County Jail. His bond is set at $1,010,000.
