Police: Woman who tried to take toddler at train stop charged with kidnapping

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Longview police have released the identity of a woman who is accused of trying to take a woman's toddler at a train station.

Angela Faith Alldredge, 40, of Longview is charged with kidnapping. Her bond has not yet been set.

The incident occurred about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Longview Amtrak station in the 900 block of Pacific Avenue. Longview Police Department says officers were dispatched to a fight in progress and it was reported that two women were fighting over a child.

When officers arrived, they learned that a woman had taken her 2-year-old son to the station to watch the trains. While at the location, police say a stranger attempted to take the child.

"The mother fought with the suspect and bystanders helped hold the suspect until police arrived," LPD said in a statement.

The mother received minor injuries. The child was not injured.

Police say the mother spoke with detectives before driving herself to the hospital.

"Officers believe this was an isolated event," LPD says.
