SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Interested buyers gathered on the steps of the Smith County courthouse Tuesday to bid for foreclosed homes.
The foreclosure sales are held on the first Tuesday of each month and are held as a public auction. The general public and the lender of the property are eligible to bid on the homes.
Auctioneers sold several properties in the East Texas area.
One man said he has bought and resold properties for about fifty years. But it never gets any easier.
"It's a sad business because it usually means somebody is losing something and we don't like that and that's one of the reasons they get me because I'm a fixer," Jim Mils said. "If I can help people figure out how to keep their property, I do it."
Mils said he travels across Texas attending auctions like this, and continues to try and help people save their homes.
