HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas deputy whose rant went viral on social media has now been terminated from his position at the Henderson County Sheriff's Office.
Deputy Keon Mack was released from his position Wednesday evening, according to Sheriff Botie Hillhouse. Hillhouse said Mack was let go due to policy violations.
Hillhouse said the deputy had been employed with the sheriff's office on two separate occasions and had worked for the department for a total of six years - initially starting off working at the jail, then being promoted to patrol deputy.
Mack posted the video six days ago on Instagram. Since then, the video has been viewed more than 122,000 times. A Facebook user also shared the video to that platform where it reached more than 895,000 views.
In the video, Mack talks about the difficulties associated with working as a law enforcement officer.
"I thought a lot of Keon. He was a good deputy," Hillhouse said. "But the way he did this. It's a direct reflection of ... the sheriff's office. The citizens here in Henderson County are behind us for the most part. We've got a good working relationship with the citizens. They depend on us and we depend o them. The unprofessionalism that he showed on that video I just cannot tolerate."
KLTV has reached out to Mack for comment.
