Longview man indicted after allegedly striking an officer in the face

GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A Longview man was indicted after allegedly striking an officer when he was being taken into custody.

Sirharold Sinque Collins, 35, was indicted by the Gregg County Grand Jury for the 188th District Court on the charges of assault against a peace officer and evading arrest or detention with previous conviction.

Collins was arrested on April 6 after he reportedly struck an police officer who was trying to detain him. According to the Longview Police Department, Collins was seen walking in traffic and was stopped by an officer. When the officer attempted to take Collins into custody, he allegedly hit the officer in the face and ran off.

Collins was found later and arrested for assault against a peace officer and evading arrest or detention with previous conviction.

Collins remains in the Gregg County jail under a collective bond of $45,000.
