Residents lose home to early morning fire in Morris County

MORRIS COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A fire early on Monday displaced several Morris County residents.

The home was located in the 700 block of Highway 49, about a half mile west of Daingerfield. The Morris County Sheriff's Office said that the call came in at about 2:30 a.m. when a person passing by the house saw it and called 911.

The Daingerfield Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene 13 minutes after the call came in, and they found a home fully involved in flames. They were able to keep the fire from spreading, but officials say the home was a total loss. They also reportedly had to respond twice for rekindles, and were able to douse it both times, they report.

Along with the firefighters and sheriff's office, Champion EMS was at the scene, but there were no injuries reported, they said.

The fire is under investigation by the Morris County Sheriff's Office.
