HALLSVILLE, TX (KLTV) - Hallsville police have arrested a teenager following a series of burglaries at residences and the Hallsville Outreach Center.
Friday morning a 13-year-old was arrested in connection with the burglaries, the City of Hallsville said in a press statement. Hallsville Police Department and the Harrison County Sheriff's Office assisted in the arrest.
Officials recovered a stolen pistol and ammunition that were recently reported stolen from a Hallsville home.
The city said the teen could be charged with burglary of a building and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
The burglary charge stems from the incident at the outreach center.
According to the staff at the center, someone broke into the building and defecated on the donated clothing. They also left the freezer open, rendering the food inside inedible. The carpet had to be steam cleaned.
The city says the criminal mischief charge is related to a vandalism incident at a vacant residence.
Officials say the investigation is ongoing and other charges are expected to be filed on other suspects involved in the vandalism of the vacant residence.
