The American Red Cross, with the support of the Worldwide Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, is launching a web site to assist family members anxious for news of loved ones living in the path of Hurricane Katrina.
Evacuees wishing to inform loved ones of their locations can register their names by clicking on the "Family Links Registry" on the right side of the Red Cross home page, www.redcross.org. Concerned loved ones can also register the names of their missing loved ones and view the list of those already posted.
Family members should visit this site daily because it will be continuously updated. A toll-free hotline has been established for those who do not have Internet access, 1-877-568-3317.
Evacuees or their family members can also go to www.pleasenotifyme.org. Registration on this site provides information and tracking on displaced individuals.
