Deputies make 6th arrest in connection with Henderson County gaming room bust

HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Deputies with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office have arrested a sixth person charged in connection with a gaming room bust on May 1.

David LaVelle Sparks, 44, of Athens is charged with engaging in an organized criminal activity, keeping a gambling place, gambling promotion and two counts of possession of gambling device. He was arrested Wednesday and posted a collective bond of $28,000.

Sparks turned himself in to the sheriff's office, officials say.

Deputies raided the business on County Road 2803 outside of Eustace and seized 44 machines and more than $9,000 in cash. They arrested four people on the scene.

Amye Brown was arrested on May 14 after her name was listed on some ownership documents, according to an arrest affidavit.

According to the affidavit, Sparks is Brown's boyfriend and is listed as the primary owner of the business.
