Two arrested in Cherokee County ATV thefts

CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A Troup man and a juvenile are in custody after investigators recovered numerous stolen items including two ATVs.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, 26-year-old Austin Hawkins and a juvenile, also from Troup, were each charged with theft, a state jail felony. Investigators located the stolen items at the Bonner Wrecking yard on Highway 110, south of Troup. Among the items recovered were a stolen dirt bike, generator, power tools, and a Yeti cooler.

Investigators said the stolen items have been returned to their rightful owners.
The arrest and recovery of the stolen property is expected to clear up numerous thefts in Cherokee County according to Cherokee County Investigator Joey Ray.
Hawkins is being held on a $20,000 bond.
The investigation continues and additional charges may be filed in the cases. The Cherokee County Sheriff's office said they will not release any further information about the juvenile.
