TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Two Tyler area students have received thousands of dollars in scholarship funds from the Taco Bell Foundation.

Caroline Onwuzu, 18, won a $25,000 Live Más Scholarship. Onwuzu plans to get a bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Texas and obtain her optometry license. Onwuza's family is from Nigeria. Her dream is to start a traveling optometry practice for people in third world countries.

Jordan Jackson, 20, won a $10,000 "renewal" scholarship, on top of the $5,000 he won in 2016. Jackson will use the scholarship to continue playing saxophone and pursuing his passion for music education at UT Tyler.

The foundation has awarded $3 million in scholarship funds to 300 people across the country. Winners are not chosen based on academic merit, but rather the passion exhibited in a 2-minute video where they discuss what they love to do.
