'2 Easy Nutella-stuffed French toast' by Chef David Wallace

(KLTV/KTRE) -

This is a recipe that would allow Dad and the kids to give Mom the perfect Mothers Day gift, "BREAKFAST IN BED!" It is simply delicious and too easy! You don't need much and it won't make a huge mess.

You will need:

  • Thinly sliced French Bread
  • Nutella or other hazelnut spread
  • egg wash (raw scrambled egg with a splash of milk) Ready Whipped Cream
  • chopped hazelnuts

Use the thinnest sliced French Bread. Buy it from your favorite grocery deli. Make a sandwich using 2 slices of the bread and a spread of a little nutella. Dip both sides of the sandwich in the egg wash, then fry in a medium hot skillet, with a little vegetable oil. Brown both sides of the sandwich. Arrange french toast on a plate, lightly dust with powdered sugar(optional), and garnish with whipped cream and chopped hazelnuts. Serve with some maple syrup and fresh fruits of your choice. I like bananas or berries.

Make it extra special! Use a heart shaped cookie cutter on your little french toast and hazelnut sandwiches, before dipping in the egg wash and frying.
Also, try other variations of sandwich fillings, such as peanut butter, fruit jams or jellies, or even whipped cream cheese! Anything spreads easily and keeps the pieces of bread stuck together. Enjoy!
