A Harrison County resident has been cited for illegal possession of wildlife after a raccoon the person was keeping allegedly bit a child over the weekend.
A Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden for Gregg County said Thursday that it was reported that the raccoon bit the child at an undisclosed location over the weekend.
With assistance from the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, game wardens located the residence where the raccoon was being kept.
The child will have to undergo rabies shots while the animal is sent off for testing.
The person who was keeping the raccoon was given a citation for illegal possession of wildlife.
