Longview police confirm one dead in duplex fire

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - One person has died in a Longview duplex fire.

About 11:04 a.m. Wednesday, firefighters were called to the 1700 block of Loring Street.

Longview Police Department confirmed that a person was found dead during a search of the duplex after the fire was extinguished.

Neighbors reported seeing a male resident entering the duplex before the fire started.

A justice of the peace responded to the scene to pronounce the person dead but no identity has been released at this time.

The fire marshal's office and the ATF also responded to the scene. The fire remains under investigation.

Officials say the incident is not currently being investigated as foul play.

A resident in the other half of the duplex was not home at the time of the fire but officials say they lost all of their belongings.
