Tyler police say driver accidentally hit accelerator, crashed into Christus Trinity Mother Frances office building

Update:

Tyler Police responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed thru the front of Christus Mother Frances North Park Medical Plaza, located at 910 E. Houston Street at 12:45 p.m., Tuesday, May 08, 2018.

Officers on the scene contacted the elderly female driver who was picking up her husband when she accidentally pushed on the accelerator causing the vehicle to drive into the building.  The vehicle pinned an employee between her desk and vehicle who had to be freed by Tyler fire Department.  The employee was taken to the Emergency Room with non-life threatening injuries.  No other persons were struck or injured from the incident. 

The crash occurred on private property and no citations were issued.

About 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, a vehicle crashed into an office building associated with Christus Trinity Mother Frances located at 910 E. Houston

One person inside the building received minor injuries. It is unclear if the driver was injured.

Police say the vehicle went through a glass window.

Hospital Public Relations spokesman Will Knous says an employee at the front desk received bumps and bruises and was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Patients and employees are being asked to use a different entrance to the building.

    A man was killed in a one-vehicle wreck in Harrison County. According to a press release, a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling eastbound on US-80 when the vehicle went off the south side of the roadway and struck a tree. The driver of the vehicle is identified as Lawrence C. Walls, 49, of Marshall. Walls was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Mike Smith. His body was transported to Meadowbrook Funeral Home.
