LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Longview Police Department made arrest in an investigation regarding an alleged improper relationship at Longview High School.
Richard Leland Williams Jr., 25, of Longview was arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child. According to the Longview Police Department, they were notified on May 3 of a reported improper relationship occurring at Longview High School.
Longview Police informed Longview ISD administration who assisted with the investigation and in identifying the victim. According to the Longview PD, the parent of the child was notified and an investigation was launched.
Longview PD obtained an arrest warrant and arrested Williams on May 4. His bond has been set at $100,000.
Longview ISD released a statement on Facebook in regards to the investigation.
According to Longview ISD, Williams was placed on administrative leave Thursday after they were notified of the investigation.
"Longview ISD takes allegations of this nature very seriously, and will always take swift action to protect the safety of our students," said Assistant Superintendent Dennis Williams on Friday on the Longview ISD School District Facebook page.
Williams was a textbook clerk at the high school.
"We are confident in our partners at the Longview Police Department. We know the family is in good hands, and that the matter will be handled with the utmost care and concern for the student's well-being," he added.
