Cowboys Close Out Preseason With Win

Rookie running back Tyson Thompson scored on a five yard run with just over two minutes remaining to help the Cowboys take a 27-20 win over Jacksonville in the preseason finale.  Thompson finished with 57 yards rushing and two touchdowns.  The first team offense was effective... taking the opening drive 87 yards, capped by a 40 yard touchdown pass by Drew Bledsoe to Terry Glenn.  Bledsoe was 7 of 8 passing for 91 yards.  Backup quarterback Tony Romo also threw for 91 yards.  Running back Julius Jones led the way on the ground with 75 yards on 11 carries.  Anthony Thomas had 64 yards to make it three Cowboys running backs with more than 50 yards on the night.  Eight Cowboys receivers caught a pass, Patrick Crayton and Terry Glenn had 46 and 45 respectively.  Defensive end Marcus Spears, making his first preseason appearance, played well, recording three tackles and a sack.  Thomas Johnson and Greg Ellis also recorded sacks, while Bruce Thornton got the lone interception.  The Cowboys open the regular season Sunday, September 11 at San Diego with a 3:15pm kickoff.

The Tampa Bay quarterback was in Lufkin Wednesday night with former teammate Jorvorskie Lane to help the former Lufkin star talk with kids and support his "Lane of Hope" foundation. But, earlier Wednesday, a picture surfaced on social media of Winston working out with Adrian Peterson in Houston at a training facility.
