Better East Texas: United Way of Smith County to move into Women's Building

(KLTV) - The United Way of Smith County is moving to a new home in the historic Woman's Building in the heart of Tyler. The renovation of the building to finish remodeling and updating is nearing completion.

If you drive on Broadway, then perhaps you have seen the work progressing.  And while this type of project is not cheap, it is worthwhile and will provide a new home for the United Way as well as create a resource location for community non-profits and two dozen agencies that are served by the United Way, while preserving this important building.

But just like the fact that the United Way serves tens of thousands of East Texans each year, it will take a strong community effort to cross the finish line on the renovation of the Woman's Building. The United Way is offering a way for individuals and groups to honor someone in their lives by purchasing a brick that will be displayed in the entrance to this organization that does so much good.

You can get more information about how you can create a permanent honor by going to the website – UWSmithCounty.org.  If you have ever thought about how you can honor someone special – perhaps your mother, another family member, a community influence, anyone, then this is a great way to do so.  The United Way touches 60,000 people each year in Smith County, and giving is very simple.  So, go to the website to find out how and consider purchasing a brick to honor someone special.
