Mayor Visits Evacuees From His Former Hometown

Tyler Mayor Joey Seeber paid a visit today to the local Red Cross shelter at First Christian Church.

He met with evacuees, welcomed them to our city, and expressed to them how sorry he was for their losses.

You may or may not know, Mayor Seeber has a special connection to New Orleans.

"I spent nine years in New Orleans as a kid," he said. "And three times, we evacuated because of hurricanes. And there was one time in particular that we really thought we were going to lose everything. So I really feel for these people and what they're going through."

Mayor Seeber says, while he's sorry the evacuees have to come to Tyler under these circumstances, he wants to make everyone's stay as comfortable as possible.
