EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Happy Friday, East Texas! Mild this morning with temperatures in the 60s. A few areas of patchy drizzle or mist are possible this morning. Winds will be picking up today and will be breezy out of the south through the afternoon and evening. Today is a First Alert Weather Day. An isolated shower or two could pop up this afternoon but the most likely chance for rain will be with the cold front tonight. Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop along the cold front north of our area by late afternoon. By this evening, storms will be moving in to the northern counties of East Texas and will progress southward during the overnight hours. Storms could become strong to severe with hail and high winds the main threats. However, an isolated tornado can not be ruled out as the storms move through. Rain will be ending from north to south tomorrow morning. Temperatures ahead of this cold front will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s this afternoon. Cooler air moves in tomorrow as the rain ends with blustery north winds and high temperatures tomorrow afternoon only in the 50s. Winds calm by Sunday morning with a chance for a few places to drop into the upper 30s, then partly cloudy skies are expected Sunday afternoon with temperatures in the 60s. A warming trend is expected next week.
