GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A Gregg County man has been indicted and formally charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant, for the injuries he caused to two East Texas deputies.

On January 20, Jesse Hardy, 34, was arrested for causing 'severe bites' in a bizarre confrontation on Highway 135, just north of FM 1252, outside of Liberty City.

Gregg County deputies discovered Hardy walking down the side of the road. The incident quickly escalated. Deputies were seen wrestling the man to the ground by passing motorists.

Gregg County Sheriff's Office PIO, Josh Tubb was driving by and stopped to assist patrol deputy Jennifer Nieves.

During the scuffle, Hardy managed to inflict severe bite wounds on both deputies before being subdued, so much so that all had to go to the hospital for treatment. Both were later released.

Hardy is currently in the Gregg County Jail on $62,000 bonds.
