EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - A first alert weather day has been issued for Friday evening and Friday night.
Another strong cold front is expected to pass through East Texas beginning on Friday evening over northern areas and heading south through the evening into the nighttime hours. Along with this cold front, isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to form and move through our area. Greatest risks will, once again, be strong thunderstorm winds and pockets of large hail. Flash Flooding and Tornado risk will remain small during this time, but not completely out of the question.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of East Texas under a SLIGHT RISK, very similar to the risk issued for us on Tuesday. Therefore we will have to remain Weather Alert as this frontal system moves through East Texas. As was the case with the front on Tuesday, once the front moves through your area, the risk for severe weather will diminish quickly. Rainfall totals are expected to be in the .50" to 1.00" range with some areas getting a bit more in the heaviest storms.
