WHITE OAK, TX (KLTV) - White Oak police managed to stop a robbery in progress after arresting a Marietta man accused of kidnapping a disabled man on Saturday.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the suspect had punched the victim in the face and tried to force him to withdraw money from his bank account.
Douglas Eugene Barron Jr., 37, is charged with first-degree aggravated robbery, first-degree aggravated kidnapping, first-degree injury to disabled and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He is being held on a collective bond of $137,500.
According to the affidavit, officers were dispatched to Citizens National Bank, in reference to suspicious persons. Before police arrived, the pair had left the bank and were located at a store across from the bank. The affidavit states Barron was standing outside the car and the other person had already gone into the store.
During the investigation, police learned the victim, who is disabled, had been taken against his will around 6 a.m., along with his car. The affidavit states Barron had punched the disabled man in the face twice and forced the victim to withdraw money from his bank account.
