LONGVIEW-TYLER (KLTV) - Although the defending World Series champs Houston have a target on their back, they will be a tough out. Getting a taste of the O's was Longview native Chris Davis, he plays first base. The former Lobo and Texas Ranger with his Orioles are the first team to play Houston at home since they won the championship. As you can imagine mixed emotions for a Texas native who spent time in Arlington. Davis says it's nice to be home and play in front of family and friends, even if he is wearing a different colored uniformed.
He's also impressed with the talent that's grown here in East Texas, saying no longer is it a hidden secret. Though he plays in the east, he's proud that Houston won the World Series, saying its good for the state. Davis' career which incudes being named an All Star has come along ways he's the role model for future big leaguers from not just East Texas but the whole state. Welcome back home Chris!
