2 restaurants get serious inspection violations

(KLTV) - Two East Texas restaurants got serious violations in the latest health department inspections.

In Tyler, King Torta's #2 at 2021 East Gentry Parkway had 11 critical violations in a March 14 inspection.

Lettuce, cheese and tomatoes were held too warm. Cambro and sauteed onions were held too cold. Quesidillas and beef sandwiches were held out of temperature. Raw beef was kept next to cooked foods with blood seen splashing into ready-to-eat foods.

A strainer in a hand-wash station had raw meat residue on it.

Food contact surfaces needed cleaning. And employees were observed not washing hands between tasks.

Total demerits: 39

In Longview, The Breakfast Room at the Sleep Inn at 615 City Center Way also received a long list of violations.

Eggs were held too warm. Stored open bags of cheese were not date marked. Toxic items were improperly stored and not labeled. Hygienic violations were found among employees. And hand-wash facilities did not have towels.

Total demerits: 22
