PANOLA COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Panola County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 2-year old boy and are now searching for his parents.

A warrant has been issued for Braylyn Sheppard, 25, and Brianna Jones, 22, of Beckville.

On Wednesday, March 14, deputies were called to the UT Carthage emergency room regarding an unconscious 2-year-old that was brought in by ambulance.

Medical personnel pointed out contusions on Kaisyn's head and face. He also had internal injuries and was unresponsive and being prepared to be airlifted to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

Investigators arrived and interviewed Sheppard and Jones. They told investigators Kaisyn had fallen off the porch on March 11 and struck his head on concrete causing the injuries to his face. The next day he reportedly vomited blood on at least two occasions and complained of stomach pains. On the night of March 13, Jones told investigators she went to work, leaving Kaisyn home with Sheppard. Around 11:50 p.m. Sheppard noticed the child lying on the couch, not moving. He attempted to wake him up but the child did not respond. Sheppard told investigators he began shaking him and called his wife. She advised him to call 911.

Kaisyn was put on life support at Children's Medical Center. On Thursday, March 15, the two-year-old died and his body was taken to Southwest Institute of Forensic Science for an autopsy.

On March 19, Sheppard and Jones agreed to be re-interviewed at the Panola County Sheriff's Office but failed to appear.

Preliminary results from the Medical Examiner's office and reports from the hospitals where the child was treated indicate that the number and severity of the injuries, both internal and external, were not consistent with a fall from a porch. They also advised he may not have received adequate medical care before the initial 911 call.

Criminal District Attorney Danny Buck Davidson was presented that information and an arrest warrant was issued for both Sheppard and Jones.

Family members report that neither Sheppard or Jones attended the child's funeral, which was held in Henderson on Saturday. They reportedly fled Panola County.

Sheppard and Jones were last seen driving a 2005 black and gray Chevrolet Tahoe with the license plate number 5JDSW. If you know of their whereabouts you are asked to contact the Panola County Sheriff's Office immediately at 903- 693-0333.
