TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Women in East Texas are invited to participate in this year's Ms. Texas Senior Classic Pageant.

This year's pageant will be held in September and will showcase women ages 60 and better. The pageant's motto is "We are Changing the Image of Aging."

Interested participants gathered to discuss the details of the pageant with past participants and to walk through the application process.

Sherry Macauley is going on her tenth year as a participant in the pageant. She says she couldn't go a year without it.

"It's hard to describe how uplifting this is," she says. "There's a confidence that comes through it; [...] it changed my life, it changed the way I look at life."

Contestants are scored on four categories: evening gown, talent, philosophy of life and judge's interview.
