Sandwich lovers, rejoice! Two new sandwich shops have made East Texas towns their latest home.
In Lindale, Schlotzsky's opened on March 22. The location, at 2805 S. Main Street, is owned by Matt Hurst, as well as his parents, Robert Hurst and Stacy Hurst. Matt told the Lindale Chamber of Commerce that he was excited to be in Lindale, which he says they've chosen due to the growth of the city in recent years. He also attributed the choice to the proximity to Interstate 20 and the travelers who exit there, looking for some grub in a hurry. Matt owns Jacksonville, Canton, and Athens locations of the restaurant, as well.
Another Schlotzsky's location, this one in Marshall, is set to open on March 29. This location is owned by Larry Henson and Derek Moore. The restaurant will kick off its grand opening at 10 a.m. on March 29 by rewarding the first 100 guests who purchase a CinnaPack of six Cinnabon Classic rolls with free Schlotzsky's for a year, the owners said in a press release to media.
Owners Henson and Moore said that 10% of sales from the Grand Opening of the Marshall store will go to 15-year-old Rose Runnels of Marshall. It will help Rose and her family with her medical expenses related to a rare muscle disorder she has, called ACTA2. The location of this store is 1600 East End Blvd.
Now that you know the background and opening dates, you are probably wondering what the restaurant has to offer. From the looks of it, sandwiches are the basis of a menu that includes lots of other offerings, too. There are fresh salads, like turkey avocado Cobb, and cranberry-apple-pecan and chicken. There are luscious macaroni and cheese variations such as "Poultry in Motion" and the "Smoky Brisketeer."
Schlotzsky's also has pizza baked on housemade sourdough crust, according to their website. They have pepperoni and double cheese as well as other variations like grilled chicken and pesto and BBQ Chicken and jalapeno.
There are also kids meals, soups, and, of course, cookies and brownies for dessert.
