First Alert Weather Day issued for Tuesday, Wednesday

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

A First Alert Weather Day has been issued for Tuesday and Wednesday.

A very slow moving storm system is approaching East Texas early this week. 

Moisture continues to increase across the region as a cold front slowly pushes into Texas from the northwest. 

Expect a few showers to develop Tuesday midday, but more numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop along the slow-moving cold front late Tuesday evening and overnight into Wednesday morning. 

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk for severe storms both Tuesday and Wednesday with the main threats being high wind, large hail and heavy rainfall. 

The rain will continue for much of the day Wednesday and will be heavy at times through Thursday morning.  Rainfall amounts of 3-6" will be likely through the end of the work week.

    The Longview Police Department has stated that both north and southbound lanes of West Loop 281 is closed. The road is closed from Cotton to Enterprise has been closed due to an accident.
