GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Gregg County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a fraudulent call aiming to gain information and money.

According to the sheriff's office, callers are calling and claiming to be your utility company.  The caller says your bill is past due by several months and without immediate payment your service will be disconnected.

The sheriff's office warns to not give the caller any of your information saying, "after all, they call you about your account, they should know the pertinent information (your name, account number, address, etc.)

If you have questions about whether or not you owe on a past due bill, from a call you receive, contact your utility number using a customer service phone number, and check your billing statement.
