Mineola duo face federal child porn charge

A federal grand jury has indicted a Mineola man and woman accused of receiving a pornographic image over the Internet.

Samuel Madison Miller, 21, and  Jodie Marie LaPlante, 21, are each charged with receipt of child pornography.

The indictment was filed on March 7 and both were booked into the Gregg County Jail on Tuesday.

According to the text of the indictment, LaPlante and Miller knowingly received a child pornographic image on Dec. 24, 2016, using KIK messenger.

Both attended their first court appearance on Tuesday at the federal courthouse in Tyler.

If convicted, they face between five and 20 years in prison.
