SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A wanted Kilgore man faces a slew of new charges after deputies discovered him hiding under a bed at Smith County motel.
Brandon ONeal Sheppard, 35, was arrested just before 3 a.m. Tuesday. The Smith County Sheriff's Office received a tip on a location of Sheppard shortly after midnight.
Deputies responded to the Economy Inn, located in the 3300 block of Mineola Highway. They discovered Sheppard hiding under a bed in a motel room.
Deputies attempted to place Sheppard under arrest, he resisted, and deputies attempted to tase him. Sheppard ran out the door, and jumped off the second story balcony of the motel. He fled on foot towards Highway 69.
Officials with the Smith County Sherriff's Office, and Tyler Police, searched the area and were unable to locate Sheppard.
Around 2:44 a.m. The Smith County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a concerned citizen. The woman told officials that Sheppard was outside her residence, in handcuffs, walking around on her property.
Deputies responded to the location and discovered Sheppard sitting in the woman's backyard. Sheppard attempted to run again, but was tased and fell down a rocky hill. The suspect received bruises, cuts, and a sprained ankle.
Sheppard was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and then was escorted to the Smith County Jail.
Sheppard faces a slew of charges including two counts of evading arrest, two counts of resisting arrest, search, or transport, and escaping while being arrested. Sheppard was wanted on a parole violation and an aggravated assault charge.
His bonds total $10,000.
