SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Multiple people have been transported to UT Health East Texas in Tyler after a car crashed into a tree in Jackson Heights.
According to the Jackson Heights VFD, the wreck happened in the 17000 block of FM 2767 Sunday afternoon.
Officials said one person was, "heavily entrapped in the wreckage."
"After a prolonged extrication the patient was removed from the vehicle and flown to ETMC," said Jackson Heights VFD.
Multiple other people were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
DPS says the vehicle was traveling eastbound when the right side tire went off the road causing vehicle to skid. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle went to the westbound side of the road and struck a tree.
