SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Two people are in custody after they were allegedly caught trying to smuggle contraband over a jail wall by one standing on top of the other.

The Smith County Sheriff's Office said a lieutenant was patrolling the perimeter of the Smith County Jail on Thursday when she saw two women trying to pass items over the wall into a secured area of the jail.

The sheriff's office said Brittney Boyd, who was on duty as a postal employee, and Andria Smith were "observed standing one on top of the other in an attempt to pass contraband over the wall."

The SCSO said the contraband was recovered and placed into evidence.

Boyd and Smith were arrested and booked into the Smith County Jail. Each is charged with prohibited substance in a correctional facility.
