EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Meals on Wheels Ministry is enlisting some high-profile help to spread the world about senior nutrition.

Thursday morning, 19 elected officials from around East Texas teamed up with regular volunteers to deliver hot meals to home-bound senior and people with disabilities. Mayors, council members, and law enforcement officials are taking part in the 16th annual 'March For Meals' awareness campaign.

Tyler Mayor Martin Heines and Councilman Bob Westbrook took this route through North Tyler. Locally, meals on wheels serves 30 communities in Gregg, Henderson, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt and Wood counties.

The non-profit relies on support from individuals, businesses, and governments to feed nearly three-thousand East Texans each weekday.
