SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A Tyler woman who allegedly exposed a 1-year-old to cocaine has now been formally charged.
Sheikaila Wright, 22, of Tyler was indicted March 1 by a Smith County grand jury for a charge of endangering a child.
Wright was arrested on Jan. 31 and booked into the Smith County Jail. According to an arrest affidavit, officers began investigating Wright on Nov. 28 after a 1-year-old child tested positive for cocaine and marijuana exposure.
The affidavit states the child had been around other people, but Wright was the only one who also tested positive for the same drugs.
Wright never admitted to smoking cocaine around her child.
Tyler Police obtained a warrant for Wright's arrest on Jan. 9.
