UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Deputies with the Upshur County Sheriff's Office have arrested a Gilmer woman accused of leaving her two children home alone for an extended period of time.
Shaina Nikole Workman, 24, of Gilmer, is charged with two counts of endangering a child.
According to the sheriff's office report, deputies were called to a disturbance at a home in the 3600 block of Bob-O-Link Road around 4 p.m., Wednesday. When they arrived, they didn't find a disturbance but two children, aged 2 and 1, home alone.
The report states law enforcement officers were at the home for 45 minutes before Workman came home with the two-year-old girl and one-year-old boy.
Workman said she and another person had gone to Longview, and left the children home alone, according to the report.
Workman was booked into the Upshur County Jail. She was arraigned this morning and bond was set at $60,000.
The children were not injured and were turned over to Child Protective Services.
The case is still under investigation, according to the sheriff's office, and other charges are pending.
