TROUP, TX (KLTV) - Troup ISD has announced the lone finalist for superintendent.
Palestine ISD Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Tammy Jones, is set to take over the position of Troup ISD Superintendent at the end of April.
This comes after Troup ISD Superintendent Stuart Bird announced his retirement. Bird has been in education for 46 years and Troup ISD for 6 years.
"I've had more fun than I deserve," said Bird.
Palestine ISD congratulated Jones after she was named the Lone Finalist on Wednesday evening.
"Mrs. Jones has done an outstanding job in Palestine and will be missed," said Larissa Loveless, with Palestine ISD.
Jones was chosen out of 74 applicants.
"I'm glad I got to have the opportunity to work here and that Mrs. Jones is taking over," said Bird who says Troup ISD is a great school and a great place to work.
Jones is scheduled to officially take over for Bird on April 28.
