JACKSONVILLE, TX (News Release) - JISD is proud to share the exciting news from the Thin Line Film Festival that a short film submission has been selected to screen at the 2018 Film Fest in Denton, Texas on April 21, 2018. The Downtown Historic Tomato Bowl is eligible to receive the Grand Prize in the Film Fest's new Travel Category sponsored by Texas Highways magazine.

Texas Highways recently established a new category in the Thin Line Film Festival in Denton, Texas called Your True Texas Travel Experience. After being made aware of the new category and competition by local banker Nathan Jones, Jacksonville ISD submitted a short video about Jacksonville's Downtown Historic Tomato Bowl!

In the video, co-produced by Chip Hale of Overton Films and Jacksonville ISD, community members, staff members and JHS graduates tell the unique story  of what the historic stadium means to the Jacksonville community. This sentimental journey during a day in Jacksonville, culminating in a graduation ceremony at the Tomato Bowl, is heartwarming and makes one wish for their own special memories like the ones generations of people have made inside the iconic rock walls.

The screening of the Downtown Historic Tomato Bowl will be held at the downtown Denton Campus Theatre at 4 pm, Saturday, April 21, 2018. Thin Line is a free festival for attendees, but registration is requested on their website at www.thinline.us. The 2018 Film Fest will screen over 75 feature and short documentaries between Opening Night, Wednesday, April 18 through Sunday, April 22 and includes more documentary films than any other festival in Texas.  The True Texas Travel Short Film Program will feature 15 short films.
